Will Apple be adding the App for 3d generation owners who can’t add apps manually?
The app is available on the 4th Generation Apple TV, as it’s the only version of the ATV that includes the App Store. We’d love to support older generation devices but Apple will need to add the App Store to them before we can.
Will this work on Gen2 and Gen3 Apple TV devices? Also, you mentioned a Roku app in this post, but I can’t find any other info about it on your website. Could you please point that out? Thanks!
You cannot add apps with earlier generations of Apple TV, so the simple answer is “no”.

Sooooo How can we use this? Have an older Apple TV.
We’d love to support older generation devices but Apple will need to add the App Store to the older generation Apple TV’s before we can support them with our app.

Really need to get this on earlier devices. I own 2 older Apple TVs, not going to buy a new one to get an app.
Probably not, since only the new device has the ability get third party apps via the App Store. The new device is a major upgrade. Wait a few weeks and you’ll see them on sale I’m sure.
I’d 100% recommend upgrading to the latest AppleTV… it’s 100% worth it in order to download from a large number of apps.

This is fantastic news – can’t wait to try it out. Since the ATV only supports 1080 I’m assuming the app optimizes for this resolution? If a new 4K ATV is released will the app automatically scale up?
we too have an older version of Apple tv… so afraid again we’ll be missing out on this upgrade.
How about something other than apple? Samsung or Vizio apps? Come on, if flickr had an app, why not SmugMug?
I really like e Smugmug Apple TV app. One thing I wish it would do that I can’t seem to find, is the ability to slide show ( running changing display ) of my most popular images rather than images in a specific gallery. Is it possible to do this, or will it be possible in the future perhaps? I think this would be quite popular with many Smugmug users
I just bought a new Samsung smart tv. Where do I find out how to do this?? (I’m not a youngster who is as tech savvy!! Need some directions!! 🙂
